Big Game Hunter
Typically I’m a pretty high strung person. I’m that girl who thinks that she’s relaxed and kicked back and rolls with it. But in reality I’m a control freak who’d prefer to run the theatre by myself, for example.
I’ve unfortunately passed on my stress/tension/freakishness to my 7 year old. He has a short attention span, has difficulty focusing, is very active and has a hard time slowing down. For Christmas Granddaddy bought him a Wii. And X bought him a game called Big Game Hunter. You put the Wii controlers in a bright orange gun that is shaped like a rifle or shotgun or something. You’d think I’d know the difference but I was reared by an architect.
So while I don’t have any issue wtih boys playing with play guns - cops & robbers, cowboys & Indians, bad guy & good guy - I’m wasn’t super excited about him shooting big game on the television, However, I’ve learned that with every level that you pass it gets more difficult to ‘score’ the big game and it takes a lot more patience to achieve your goals. This is awesome for the boy. Within his mother imposed time limits he has learned to persevere, to remain calm and to focus. At least for a little while.
